The AFL Show - Grand Final 2007
Congratulations to all those long suffering Geelong supporters who must be over the moon about their record breaking premiership of 2007. Paul and Jeff pick over the biggest game on the AFL calendar and give their thoughts on the game, the pre- match entertainment and the moments that shaped the history making win. Also, don’t miss Paul explaining why Mark Williams, losing Port Power coach, still somehow manages to receive his ‘backslap of the week.’
Thanks to everyone who has listened and left us a message on the blog. We hope you have enjoyed our contribution each week. If you have, or if you have an observation on season 2007, please leave us a message. If you thought the show was rubbish, then we’ll thankyou very much to keep your opinions to yourself.
All the best,
Jeff and Paul

Answers to the “I’m Not Sure” file for this week:
1) Norm Smith Medal
Yes boys, Gary Ayres did win the 1988 Norm Smith Medal, making him the first player to have won it on more than one occasion - following up on his 1986 NSM. Regarding your discussions around Matthew Scarlett, I think that he would have been the first Full Back NSM as Ayres played in the Back Pocket when winning his. Who could forget Collins – Langford - Ayres? ….. a great full back line. In the 80’s and early 90’s it was shared around between positions, with ruckmen, backs, and key forwards all getting a look-in. Nowadays, the NSM is just about the sole domain of the on-baller and/or smaller forward type.
2) Winning Margins in Finals
Is Geelong the first team to have won two Finals in the same season by more than 100 points? Yes! Just 6 Finals in the game’s history have been decided by more than 100 points. Geelong’s GF win became the third highest winning margin in a Final ……. behind the 133 point margin of Essendon over Collingwood at Artic Park in 1984, and Essendon’s win over the Kangaroos in 2000 by 125 points.
That is all

Once again you have not let us down, Arma!
Ah, yes, memories of Arctic Park - what a great idea to build a stadium on a wind belt!
Hope you will keep me in line during season 2008.
Thanks again, Paul
