Paul’s last shot at solo hosting, in Jeff’s absence, sees him cover all the big news that came out of this weeks Hall of Fame spectacular. He compares the week’s festivities to a Craigieburn display home and reads insightful entries from Brendan Fevola’s Big V diary.
Paul hosts the show solo this week in the absence of Jeff. He discusses this weeks big games and gets enthused about the return of State of Origin Footy to the MCG. Apart from drawing a comparison between Dean Cox and Madonna, he reveals all on the AFL’s recent ‘Selwood for every team’ Rule. In a week where the Demons found a turning point, Chris Judd made a point and Kelvin Moore kicked a point - this is surely a podcast to remember.
In the all new Footywrap studio, Jeff and Paul take a look at Michael Voss’ coaching pitch #2 and Max Hudghton’s tiff with Matt McGuire. Geelong and Freo played out a classic at Subiaco and don’t miss the footage from Paul’s gig at Fed Square for International students.
In the gun this week are the West Coast Eagles who find themselves 1-5 after round 6. We eagerly await Judd’s return to Subiaco this friday. Also discussed is Geelong’s 1 point win over Fremantle despite a fab performance from Aaron Sandilands with over 40 hit outs! Carlton fans weren’t happy with umpire Ray Chamberlain’s performance on the weekend. In the interests of reducing their profiles, Paul floats the idea of Umpire’s wearing Hangman’s hoods during the game.
The Spotlight shines on Jason Akermanis, who is running into some very good form and our big issue this week is feuding team mates (Max Hudghton and Matt McGuire.)

Some exciting games this week. The draw being the most exciting. We discuss Brian Lake’s last minute injury (or was it?) that put the ball in the very capable hands of Will Minson. We speak exclusively to Brian on the phone. Also, Melbourne’s woes continue as Carlton go on a mini- roll (a dinner roll.) Finally we discuss Gary Ablett Jnr and Buddy Franklin whose incredible form contine.
We’re down at Tigerland today to see what the mood is like after their draw with the Bulldogs. Nathan Brown suggests Brian Lake faked his injury late in the game to give another player the kick and Paul says the Magpies were ripped off by a dodgy bounce by the umpire.
The Toyota great moments commercials keep on coming and this time the Flying Doormat, Bruce Doull is getting involved. We have sneak preview from the set of the new ad featureing a re- enactment of Kevin Ablett stealing Bruce’s headband, an act that made the doormat mad with rage but what we really want to know is: will Helen D’Amico make a cameo? Helen was the famous streaker in the 1982 Grand Final that harassed Bruce wearing nothing but a Carlton scarf. There is a rumour that she was at the shoot but lost her nerve and refused to come out of her trailer to take part in the commercial. I guess we will have to wait and see… Our idea was to turn the tables and make the Doormat run into her trailer in the buff.
Barry Hall’s right hook is the lead story on the footy wrap this week. Also, Brisbane’s comeback against Port and ‘Inverse World’ (where Carlton and Richmond both win!)
